Apparently, “progress” is a multi-layered term. Many people associate it with a permanent increase in prosperity or quality of life, and their attitude toward it is correspondingly positive. For others, “progress” is synonymous with “change”. But what do people mean by “progress,” especially in troubled times? A normal life, as before the crisis? Or perhaps something completely new and different? This exciting question was the central theme of the closing event of 2021 of the “Rheinisches Post Forum” series of events initiated by Pia Kemper in Düsseldorf’s Medienhafen. At the RP Forum “Progress – Rethinking,” people from a wide variety of life contexts dared to question common views and seek new approaches for the future. These were subsequently published in the special supplement at the beginning of the year. Joining CIO Christopher Peterka at the event were four other partners from the gannaca network: In addition to Anja Gossens (Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Berlin), Caroline Piesche (Piesche GmbH) shed light on the topic of “diversity” from her own personal perspective. Anouk Hilti-Zingg (Assarée AG) acted as an impulse generator from Generation Y. Freelance journalist Lena Kronenbürger left an impression with her explicit wish to “allow emotions and lose indifference”. The importance of respecting human rights and a functioning judiciary was also discussed.
